Jennie Summerbell - Miss Jennie
Like many, as a little girl dancing around the living room, I dreamed of one day becoming a ballerina, and there it started!
I started my dance training at the age of 4 and continued untill I was 18, training at the Lucy Heafield School of Dance in a small village in South Derbyshire. During that time I took many exams in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Theatre Craft and was awarded a scholarship with the IDTA.
I travelled across the country entering many competitions and dance festivals. I won many awards including the Birmingham Ballet Championships, the Birmingham Modern Championships and came runner up in the heat for Miss Dance of Great Britain.
I went on to study AVCE Performing Arts and gained a BTEC National Diploma in Dance and an A Level in Dance. During this time I also qualified as a Theatre Dance teacher with the IDTA, gaining honours in Ballet.
I decided to earn some professional stage experience by performing in professional pantomimes before becoming a production dancer for the Warner Leisure Company. I went on to become head dancer and later Entertainments Manager for Warner Leisure, based in Harrogate.
From there I set up a cabaret show which has successfully toured across the UK and on the beautiful island of Malta.
When Phil and I returned to Harrogate we set up a 10 piece vintage band which we run alongside the dance school, we are called 'The New Vintage Band' ! I am very excited to be going back to my love of teaching once again.
Auntie Gill
Meet the lovely Auntie Gill, who will be on hand every lesson to answer any questions you may have if Miss Jennie is teaching.
Auntie Gill is in charge of uniform orders and costumes when we are working towards a show. Auntie Gill also designs and creates many of our show costumes herself.
Hazel Summerbell - Miss Hazel
Hazel is the principle of our sister dance school based in sunny Malta! She is also a very experienced performer and teacher.
Watch out for special workshops by Hazel when she is visiting us on her holidays!!
Phil Lyons
Phil is a professional singer and entertainer who regularly tours across the UK and abroad, performing for many venues, companies and events.
Watch out for theatre workshops where Phil will be joining us for fun and exciting classes to include musical theatre and performance training.
